Every June, the hydrangeas near my office stand still in the rain in their bright blue attire.
The sky is always cloudy at this time of year, so I am even more attracted to the color.
Across the rice paddies, another hydrangea, this time a bright reddish-purple. I don’t know when I first learned that the color changes depending on the nature of the soil, it must have been a long time ago, but it was only a few years ago that I came across butterfly peas, which have a similar color change.
Yes, that’s why Umeda is here this time to tell you about the June Limited Edition, a gin with butterfly peas.
Since the first year when YASO was launched, it has been released at the beginning of summer, so I personally feel that summer is here! This gin makes me personally feel that summer is here!
The blue color changes to reddish purple when mixed with tonic water, making it visually pleasing.
The blue color is maintained when mixed with carbonated water, as the color changes with the acidity of the split ingredients.
It is also a beautiful color.
The contents of the product include more juniper berries than usual (twice as much as in our company).
We combine juniper berries that have been lightly ground in a mortar with juniper berries that have been macerated in base spirits for 24 hours.
Some of the ingredients are also aromatized by placing them in baskets set up in the vapor path, but the timing of adding the ingredients is slightly different than usual.
Soaking the butterfly peas adds color, but slightly changes the nuances of flavor, so we adjust the flavor by giving them more body than usual with the previously mentioned contents.
My distilling team thought the use of butterfly peas came from Detective Conan’s “Githy Tea Party,” but …… it’s not.
The inspiration for making gin came from a character’s gin in Detective Conan, lol.
Why not brighten up the inside of your glass during the rainy season?
The release date is Saturday, June 11.
The June release date has been changed to coincide with World Gin Day, and we will participate in the toast relay at the June 11 installment. Would you like to toast with us if you have time?
